A Sweet Story
On Saturday, February 10, 2007, Chicago's historic South Shore Cultural Center came alive with the sights, sounds, tastes and aromas of chocoalte - as more than 85 chefs from establishments from Chicago and around the country prepared sweets and savories fit for the most ardent chocoholic. More than 1,500 guests attended the event, presented by The French Pastry School (www.frenchpastryschool.com), helping raise awareness and funds for the Chicago Chapter of the Careers through Culinary Arts Program (www.ccapinc.org).

From the luxurious, sultry Cocoa Sutra room and the chocolate body artwork of "artist to the starts" Michael Bell to a dazzling chocolate inspired fashion show featuring chocolate designs and local celebrity models, guests were entertained all night long. Music was on tap from Chicago blues favorite Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials, and guests took part in salsa dancing with lessons from the Chicago International Salsa Congress. And all of that was capped off by one of the most decadent, dazzling dessert displays in Chicago.

Print/Online Coverage
For the Love of Chocolate was featured in more than 16 publications including major newspapers (Chicago Sun-Times, the Daily Herald, and Northwest Indiana Times) and magazines (Today's Chicago Woman, Chicago SCENE, and LAKE), and popular lifestyle magazine Chicago Social. Online presence included in popular online and tv guide Metromix; event was also highlighted in Chicagoist.com.

On Television
TV segments aired the week prior to the event, on Chicago's CBS, ABC, NBC and FOX affiliates and local news channel CLTV, were a key factor in enticing guests to attend. The French Pastry School chefs gave a few special guests a glimpse of what was in store for the guests — including chocolate body painting, chocolate sculpting, and a model in chocolate clothing. Stations even covered the Chocolate Sculpture competition that took place at Neiman Marcus. Television segments included:

  • Metromix TV on CLTV (January 25 & 26)
  • CBS2 Morning News (February 3 & 4): was picked up by affiliates in New York, California, Connecticut, Ohio, Nevada, Tennessee, Georgia, Oregon
  • WMAQ-TV on NBC

Radio Coverage
Our Public Service Announcement was mentioned on several top radio stations, including Chicago stations WTMX-FM “The Mix,” WUSN-FM (US99.5) and WDRV-FM (97.1).
